No, really…
…”Scale The World” begins, like, now. Today. Or Tomorrow. Or Tuesday. Any day you want to begin it.
But “Scale The World” itself is alive and kicking. All of you who expressed interest (and even those who haven’t) — please take 5 minutes and look over the purpose behind the site, sign up, spread the word, etc.
It’s free — no, really.

For those of you who have joined, thank you — it’s growing like crazy, so part of this blog is me being, well…Bingo. However, I want millions. I want to make an impact that will reach around the globe.
This is about obesity, yes — but even more about living fearlessly, in an ongoing state of truth, and with ruthless responsibility. Ruthless responsibility brings peace, clarity and freedom, not guilt. Scale The World also gives you strategies and exercises (physical and mental) to empower your life.
Did I mention it’s free?
Good…just making sure.

Thanks for the kind words about Mr. Feet. They’re coming along — but I have to take back my, “No, it isn’t gout” from yesterday. After fitting every symptom to a tee, I did some research. Turns out that unless a doc took a measure of uric acid crystals from the joint itself (naturally no one did), you can have gout with “normal” uric acid levels.
Learn something new every day…more water for Bingo. Also, niacin can trigger a gout attack.
I knew that, though. : ) {10}

Wasn’t it President Clinton who said :
“I feel your pain”
If it is gout, they can give you pain/anti-inflamatory medication to get you through it’s hold on you. For me,previous bouts lasted 10 days - two weeks, but my last bout with gout (October/November 2005), it took a good month to totally go away. I only used ibuprofen to get to sleep and manage the daily pain. It taught me not to take walking for granted , hence my quest for 1200 miles in 2006.
” In my life now, I am obsessed with only two things: I don’t want anybody to die before their time. And I don’t want to see good people spend their energies without making a difference… You can change the reality of human history by systemic action.”

Get well soon !!

Thanks Woody — I really appreciate your advice. I have a nutrition plan for gout patients…just never thought I’d be one of them. However, I’m holding off until the tests are ran.
Hurts like hell, doesn’t it?
I went to the gym yesterday — just like I blogged. I even went for a sunset drive.
Then, I came home and cried like a baby and took pain meds.
Still, f—k this…that’s my attitude. If it hurts, it hurts. And if it hurts “so” much that I pass out (as in the other day), then take pain meds until it stops hurting.
I’ve never been one to lay down very long.
Honestly, my concern has always been on the underlying causes. Obviously I need a less acidic diet (odd, as I was JUST designing my GAP diet, which is low acid), some barley grass, a bit of cherry juice, and a ton of water.
High cholesterol (genetic) can cause gout (a lot more likely than heart disease) — and get this: high cholesterol can be a protective measure ‘against’ gout and elevated uric acid.
This is a GOOD thing, as I may have the answer to a lot of my woes. The weird thing is my uric acid levels have always been normal to slightly high…certainly not enough to cause alarm.
I just didn’t know (read: doctors didn’t know or bother to mention) that uric acid can rise and fall like the Dow. I must have missed that day in college — however, in my defense, she was really hot.

Hey Lee, this may be a stupid question but with reference to your request for the German version of Scale, do you live in Germany? I am just wondering because I will be traveling to Germany in April or May and could use some itinerary assistance!

I am on with the scale the world.
Sorry to hear about your problems with your feet and the gout.
My foot is not doing too great either.
after the first acupuncture treatment it felt great but after second one it went on reverse and it is hurting again. I am going again today - maybe it will help.
but it sure sucks….Can’t run or walk for a long period of time. I will try eliptical machine today and see how that will work in any case I am doing it 100%.
How realistic is to set a goal of loosing 4% of body fat by feb 15/06?

Hello Everyone!
Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year. We’ve had a great time. We travelled via Cairns to get here, spent the day, pretty fun place, never been before. Have to go back for a Great Barrier reef tour. We had a week of fiercely hot weather, and now have spent 3 days in cool mist and rain. Can’t beat a mountain for changeable weather. And Cyclone Clare is battering the coast. Don’t know if I’ll stand the notoriety if if gets all the way home. Pretty odd seeing headlines like ”Clare uproots powerpoles”Now the exercise is working but not quite that well.We were expecting my mother in law back yesterday, but instead the ambulance officer rang from the airport asking us to pick her up from the hospital. She got faint and fell. We got to hospital and she was all let me outta here. But they kept her overnight and today we heard she needs immediate heart surgery. She’s pretty fit and well otherwise except for some kidney issues, but still surgery at 81 ,its a worry. We have to go back to Brisbane again tomorrow for Peter(6 yo son) to be checked out. There was some talk of a central line, but I hope I’ve scotched that.
I’m not riding here, the umpteen bags of toys and presents was enough to manage at the airport.I ‘m walking instead and enjoying the mountains. Darwin is ironed flat, so the views are a real treat as is the temperate forest. Toowoomba’s such a pretty place.
Now I’m doing okay, still making steady progress, but not so husband and sister. My husband is riding everyday, and hasn’t lost an ounce. My sister actually put on weight.I don’t think you could say husband was plateaued, no fat loss at all! Any suggestions?
Sorry to hear about the feet Jon,its amazing how a little thing can be such an inconvenience. I’ve broken my little toe a couple of times, and goodness, the trouble it was.
bye
